Ribchester Roman Museum

Ribchester Roman Museum

Built in 1914, the museum is situated above the remains of the Roman fort headquarters. The museum is crammed with treasures excavated from the Roman site over the past few hundred years including pottery, leather, woodwork and carved stone inscriptions. Exhibits are beautifully presented and explore what Roman and Celtic inhabitants may have looked like and how they lived. A must see for anybody interested in Roman history in Britain

Ribble Way Walk

Ribble Way Walk

The Ribble Way is a 73 mile footpath following the River Ribble along the beautiful Ribble Valley from its mouth to its source. The footpath traverses the counties of Lancashire and North Yorkshire and is divided into 7 sections each approximately 10 miles long. Itstarts at Longton to the west of Preston and follows a gentle course through Ribchester and Clitheroe before reaching Gisburn. The Ribble way then crosses from Lancashire into North Yorkshire and continues to its source at Gavel Gape.
